Thugs Invade Court; Chase Away Judges, Lawyers, Others In Ekiti




A group of people suspected to be PDP thugs reportedly stormed Ekiti High Court of Justice in Ado Ekiti on monday beat up litigant and others.

The movement is suspected to be in favor of the state governor-elect, mr Ayodele Fayose who is a defendant to the case challenging his eligibility in recent June 21 election .

Fayose was challenged by the Citizens Popular Party, CPP, Adeniyi Ajakaye and others the Justice that Justice Olusegun Ogunyemi has welcomed. The trial judge has earlier said that the court has a jurisdiction to here the case and has ordered that the two parties should prepare for hearing by 1:00pm.
The thugs arived arround that time and started beating everybody in sight. People ran for their lives as sluggish litigants and members of anti-Fayose was beaten as well as some reporters covering the scene.
Justice Ogunyemi  one of the target of  the attack escaped.
PDP publicity secretary, Kola Olawole told THE PUNCH:

“The judge openly demonstrated in his ruling that he has jurisdiction on the matter and simultaneously commenced hearing of the matter without giving the respondent the opportunity to signify an appeal,” - 

The injured people were taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, chief Jide Awe, the interim chairman of All Progressive Congress, APC, has condemn the act and related it to that of Idi Amin era.

“We are back to the Idi Amin era in Ekiti where judges and lawyers are attacked in court. This is terrible. - 
But the APC has no case in the court and we were not there to witness the attack.”

 He told THE PUNCH.
