Interview: what Employers really Need From You

Interview: what Employers really Need From You

Trying hard to fit in the organisation's profile during interviews but failing in your attempts? The reason could be different from what you think it is. Read what employers look for in candidates during interviews.

While speaking about interviews we usually tend to concentrate on information which will readily help jobseekers. In some way, it is equally important to know what employers want as it also aids candidates in gearing up for the interview. On researching we found out startling facts which they use to judge applicants for the job. Here are some of them.

  • Openness and honesty. To all those who thought academic qualifications/certifications and experience make all the difference, make way for new benchmarks. Candour and sincerity takes over all others credentials in an interview. You maybe a highly qualified and trained person but if you lack the basics then you might have to bid farewell to the opportunity.

  • Common vision. Anyone who has been interviewed before must have experienced the phrase “Take me through your resume”. Well, this is not just a commonly used sentence but a clever way to know who you actually are. It is not enough for your resume to project you as the right candidate. Your abilities, needs and vision should match that of the organisation.

  • Communication.  Clear communication is a winner always. Employers always prefer someone who understand their language without much trouble. They look for candidates who speak the same business language as they do. This saves them the trouble and time to explain each and every detail about the work and the organization. It also avoids chances of misunderstanding. (Also read: What the interviewer wants to know)

  • Be a sponge. Flexibility and readiness are the two powerful characteristics which help in growing up in a company. Be ready to work up from bottom, soak up all kinds of work related information and be open to all kinds of experiences. Do not have any rigidness towards work.
