How to Optimize Your Online Business

How to Optimize Your Online Business

If you want to optimize your online business, then you need to set the industry standard in your niche. You need to figure out what's missing; what everyone else won't do or can't do, and then take the lead. In this article, I'm going to show you how to do just that.
You already know about the Pareto Principle. Its basic premise is the 20% of your input gives you 80% of your output, and vice versa.

Now I want you to think about your competitors. Only 20% of them are doing what's right in their niche. And what that means is that 80% of them are missing the mark altogether.

So the big question is, which category are you in?

The answer can be found by asking yourself some other questions.

How about this one? "Am I following most of my competitors?"
Or, "Am I just trying to catch-up with my competitors?"
Or, "Am I only trying to remain competitive with them?"

If you answered "Yes" to any of them, then you're in the 80% who are doing the wrong things.
What do the 20% do?

Among other things, they set the standard in their niche.

They decide the direction that the industry should go in, and then they take the lead.

They produce the content that's necessary to position themselves as the expert.

And that means that if you want to become the expert, you have to follow their model.

Now I didn't say that you had to do exactly what they do. Everyone takes their own path. But there are certain characteristics that their businesses share.

For example, they all have a content marketing strategy.

They all regularly produce high-quality content.

They all have mastered a particular platform.

You know, I still hear a lot of people talk about "best practice." And I have to tell you that it's a load of nonsense. "Best" is contextual. It depends on the person, the place - everything.

And if all you do is what the industry says is "best", then you'll never been seen as the leader. That's because followers only do what everyone else is doing.

If you're going to be the leader, then you can't wait around to get the approval of everyone else.

You have to go with it, even if you're the only one who is doing it.

And when you do that, then you'll find yourself among that elusive 20%.
